Explained

Chlorine is used to help disinfect and sanitise your pool water by inactivating any microbes that may be present. Chlorine is also an effective algaecide. As salt in your pool passes through the chlorinator it combines with hydrogen from the water and an electrolysis process converts the salt into chlorine. As chlorine is released from the chlorinator it makes the pool water more alkaline. Hydrochloric Acid is needed to be added frequently to neutralise the alkalinity. The addition of Hydrochloric Acid also reverts any used chlorine back into salt, so the chlorine generation process is fully recyclable in regards to salt consumption.

Over time chlorinators fail and need to be replaced. Modern chlorinators can have automatic acid dosers connected to them with Chlorine & pH sensors to continuously monitor chemical levels. Output is adjusted as needed electronically and can run in “Ai” mode to control the speed of a variable speed pump for maximum energy savings.
